Newcomer Entrepreneurship Program

Our Newcomer Entrepreneurial Program aims to assist new immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers who are seeking to become entrepreneurs and/or improve their small businesses in Oakland County.

If you are a newcomer, new to the United States and have been in the country less than 5 years and want to start your own business, Oakland Thrive’s Newcomer Entrepreneurship Program can help. The goal of the Newcomer Entrepreneurial Program is to build a comprehensive and accessible program for new immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers to create an entrepreneurial pathway. This program provides practical training to help potential and existing entrepreneurs develop realistic business plans to start and to improve a sustainable business in Oakland County.

Whether you come to the U.S. as an immigrant, refugee or asylee, our Newcomer Entrepreneurship Program has a variety of resources to help you plan or start your business including:

  • A business guide for newcomers to Oakland County where you can learn about different resources for newcomer entrepreneurs.
  • Newcomer special skills for those who have acquired business skills, training or qualifications outside of the U.S.
  • 1:1 business consultations with potential and existing Oakland County business owners.
